Say goodbye to rust on hooks and eyelets in safety footwear
No doubt, the main feature
metal trims for safety footwear must have is high
resistance to corrosion.
Iron metal trims protected by a standard galvanic plating normally rust in few hours on average during salt-spray tests.
Our customers ask for high performances more and more often. This is why we have developed
three different protection levels:
- 10 my thick plating
- HOB plating
- RF500 finish
The three finishes can be made on our whole range of products:
d-rings hooks,
speedlace hooks,
trekking hooks,
metal eyelets,
oval rings,
d-rings, footwear rings,
studs for shoes,
iron buckles for footwear and sandals.
10 MY THICK PLATING
The thickness of galvanic plating on
iron hooks or on other
metal trims is measured in micron (my); normally, standard finishes have a very thin galvanic layer of around 1 or 2 my.
In order to increase the
resistance to corrosion, in this case, the galvanic bath is prolonged until a thickness of 10 my is achieved. The underlying iron is thus more protected from attacks by external agents. The average resistance to salt-spray tests, of an
eyelet for instance, is increased up to 15-20 hours.
HOB PLATING The acronym HOB means “Hochohmige Behandlung”. It consists of a special galvanic process, protected by an industrial secret, which grants about 2 days of
resistance to corrosion (of a
d-ring hook, for instance) during salt-spray tests.
The process is mainly applied to bronze, antique copper. Upon request, the HOB finishes can be nickel-free.
RF500 FINISH
It is a special finish which requires multiple coatings and different processes.
The process is
SATRA tested in accordance with the
ENI ISO 20345 standard, and stands out for its positive resistance to salt-spray tests up to more than 500 hours.
The specificity of this finish is that it can be made in a wide range of colours: not only bronze, antique copper or aluminium, but also in any other colours from the RAL card, including metalized tones.
Therefore, the
hooks and
eyelets for safety shoes protected by the RF500 finish are beautiful to look at and functional: they are superior in terms of
safety,
resistance to corrosion and easy lacing, with no wear of the colour over time.
